West Brom & Sam Allardyce keen on PL striker, loan-to-buy deal possible – report
Sam Allardyce is keen to reunite with Cenk Tosun this month as the West Brom boss wants more firepower in his ranks, according to Sky Sports.
The Baggies could do with several new first-team players in their bid to avoid relegation and it seems as though Allardyce is identifying key targets.
Albion have been linked with several players already this window, including Tosun, as Sky Sports now claim that Allardyce is ‘keen’ on signing his former player.
Sky Sports also report that if West Brom secure the loan signing of Tosun then there will be an option to sign the 29-year-old on a permanent deal if the Baggies avoid relegation.
Big Sam signed Tosun for Everton when he was Toffees boss but the Turkish international never hit the ground running at Goodison Park.
Now out of favour, Tosun could be a realistic transfer option for Allardyce as the new West Brom boss clearly saw something in Tosun when he was Everton manager.
Tosun wouldn’t exactly be an inspiring signing with his 5 appearances and no goals for Everton this season but the Baggies won’t have a great selection of players to choose from this month.
After the 4-0 loss to Arsenal, it is looking incredibly likely that an instant return to the Championship is on the cards with Allardyce achieving worse results than his predecessor.
Having said that, Tosun has 10 goals in 54 Premier League appearances which isn’t a horrendous record but he can’t be relied upon to score the goals that will keep Albion in the top flight.
If nothing else he may prove to be more of a physical presence compared to Karlan Grant who has yet to really impress since his summer arrival.
One thing is for sure, getting transfers over the line is going to be tricky for the Baggies as they have limited funds and moving to the Hawthorns at the moment isn’t exactly an attractive prospect.
Allardyce clearly thinks that Tosun can help keep Albion up and if he comes in on loan then it could be a decent deal.
