Gabby Agbonlahor shares verdict on ‘Shocking’ WBA decision, makes laughable squad claim

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that West Brom are almost certain to be relegated from the Premier League this season under Sam Allardyce.

The pundit and former Aston Villa forward believes that it was a “shocking decision” to sack Slaven Bilic, who still had the squad playing for him.

Agbonlahor went on to make his own shock claim, that the Albion squad are playing annoyed recently, as they still wanted Bilic to remain at the Hawthorns.

Speaking on talkSPORT this week, Agbonlahor claimed that the Baggies squad were still behind Bilic before he was given his marching orders.

“I’ve said this since the day he was sacked, Bilic, I thought it was a shocking decision to sack him,” he said.

“The Manchester City game, they were playing for Bilic and there was no reason to sack him. I think everybody jumps on that bandwagon, Big Sam can keep you up.

“Yes, he’s done it so many times, but sooner or later, that records going to come to an end, and I think it ends this season with West Brom, and West Brom do go down.

“The players out there look like a team that are probably still a bit annoyed with Bilic going because when he was there, they were playing for him.”

All of this praise for Bilic seems far-stretched.

Yes, he dragged the Baggies back into the Premier League, but when you look back on his recent record, you can hardly say that the decision to sack him was “shocking.”

West Brom barely made it out of the Championship last season, and have only won four of their last 28 league games in the second-tier and the Premier League.

Allardyce may not have been the right choice, but it is stupid to say that the players were fighting for Bilic, just because they got an unlikely point at City – let’s not forget we lost 5-1 at home to Crystal Palace before that.

Some may not agree, and Allardyce may not be the right option, but it would be no surprise to see the Baggies relegated no matter who is in charge right now, the squad simply isn’t good enough.
