Report details big injury update on West Brom duo Townsend & HRK
West Brom have been handed a timely fitness boost with the news that both Conor Townsend and Hal Robson-Kanu will both be back within seven days.
The Athletic have produced a graphic detailing all the injuries and suspensions in the Premier League currently using information from Premier Injuries.
They claim that both Towsend and Robson-Kanu’s returns are imminent, while Jake Livermore is also listed, having just served the final game of his three-match ban.
Townsend has not featured for West Brom since their 1-0 victory against Sheffield United, way back at the end of September.
A problem position solved for Allardyce
Having Townsend back in the squad comes as a huge boost to Allardyce, with the Baggies now having a natural left-sided defender to call upon.
Since Allardyce’s arrival, the Baggies have been swapping between a three-man defence and a traditional flat back four.
However, the left-back spot has caused something of a headache for Allardyce, with central defender Dara O’Shea filling in their last time out.
During Townsend’s time on the treatment table, Kieran Gibbs has also struggled with injuries, forcing the Baggies into regularly naming a makeshift defence.
Prior to his injury, Townsend was one of the Baggies’ top performing players.
As per WhoScored’s average match rating, Townsend is the best performer on average in the West Brom squad of any player who has made more than five appearances in the Premier League.
