West Brom ready offer to sign 51-cap striker after Karlan Grant injury blow – report

West Brom are ready to offer Joshua King an escape route from Bournemouth after Albion striker Karlan Grant suffered a broken foot, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims the Cherries are open to offers for King, 28, this month with the Norway international in the final six months of his contract on the south coast.

It is understood Bournemouth will not let King go on the cheap but Sam Allardyce is keen to add to his striker options and may hand the former Blackburn striker a way back to the Premier League to help the Baggies avoid relegation.

Out from the cold to save West Brom?

King has struggled for game-time at Bournemouth this season with the forward playing just eight times in the Championship, starting three matches. In that time, he’s failed to score.

However, King is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League with 48 goals to his name in 161 top-flight appearances.

West Brom pushed out the boat to sign Grant from Huddersfield in the last transfer window but the ex-Charlton man, who’s now recovering from a broken foot, has netted just once in 12 Premier League starts.

At least with King, he’s a known quantity in the top-flight and should be able to guarantee more of a goal threat than Grant did.

Unfortunately, Bournemouth don’t seem as though they’re willing to budge too much in terms of their valuation of King, even though he could leave for free in the summer when his contract expires.

He is, however, an achievable target and we’d be happy to see Allardyce sign the 51-times Norway international.
