‘Embarrassing’, ‘Utter desperation’ – Many West Brom fans furious with new transfer report

West Brom fans are furious with a report by the Express & Star which says Albion want to sign West Ham veteran Robert Snodgrass on a permanent deal this month.

Snodgrass, 33, is in the final six months of his contract at the London Stadium but has played just three times in the Premier League this season for the Hammers, earning a paltry four minutes of game-time in the top-flight.

The Express & Star reports that Sam Allardyce is “determined” to sign players who “have the experience and character needed for a relegation battle” with the Baggies finding themselves six points from safety with 17 matches played.

Snodgrass fits that mould with the winger earning 163 Premier League appearances and 28 caps for Scotland in a career that has seen him play for Leeds, Norwich, Hull, Aston Villa and current club West Ham.

Although Snodgrass has spent time playing for teams who’ve struggled in the Premier League, Albion fans are not happy with speculation linking the ex-Villa attacker to The Hawthorns.

One fan even claims that if the report is true, it’s “embarrassing“.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Snodgrass is primarily a winger but he’s played a central role on three occasions this season for West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

He scored twice and supplied one assist in three cup outings for the Hammers earlier this season, with one of those goals coming against Everton.

West Brom need to strengthen almost every part of their squad but doing so in January could be problematic due to gelling the squad together and the overall lack of funds at The Hawthorns.

Snodgrass should be a low-priority signing but if he does arrive, we wouldn’t be as angry as some of these fans on Twitter.
