‘One source telling us…’ – Kaveh Solhekol names PL left-back West Brom could swoop to sign

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has confirmed that West Brom do have an interest in Tottenham defender Danny Rose.

Speaking during Sky Sports News’ The Transfer Show (05/01/21 at 7:50 pm), Solhekol revealed that the Baggies are considering a move for the former England international, who is very much out of favour at Spurs.

On Rose’s immediate future, the Sky Sports reporter said: “It looks like almost certainly he’s going to be leaving Spurs.

“There could be the possibility of West Brom coming in for him. That’s unconfirmed, but that’s one source telling us that West Brom are looking at him and that’s a deal that could potentially happen if he sorts out his contract situation at Spurs.”

Rose has made just two Premier League appearances for Spurs this season and has been forced into playing for the club’s U-23s in the Premier League 2.

Not the priority for Allardyce

Conor Townsend is closing in on his West Brom return and with that in mind, the Baggies have no reason to strengthen at left-back.

Bringing in a new striker and potentially a new defender or central midfielder should be viewed as a more pressing situation for Allardyce.

Rose did little to impress at Newcastle after arriving on loan from Tottenham last season and with a reported wage of £60,000 a week, it is hard to see the benefits of a move for the Englishman.

Given his wages, any potential move for Rose is unlikely to be cheap, so the Baggies would be better off using that money elsewhere.

According to Wyscout, Rose won less than 60 per cent of his defensive duels per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season.

He also won less than 50 per cent of his aerial duels per 90 minutes and generally looked a shadow of his former self.
