West Brom in advanced talks to sign new player, Albion faves to seal deal – Sky Sports
West Brom are in advanced talks to sign experienced winger Robert Snodgrass from West Ham, according to Sky Sports.
In a report on the broadcaster’s live transfer blog [Wednesday, 03:56pm], it is claimed that while there are other teams interested in the London Stadium outcast, the Baggies are favourites to complete a deal.
Sky Sports do not say whether the deal will be permanent or a loan but it is suggested Snodgrass will head to The Hawthorns on a full-time basis as “signing him on a permanent deal will keep Allardyce’s solitary loan slot available for another signing”.
Snodgrass’ deal at West Ham expires in the summer and he’s played just four minutes’ worth of football in the Premier League this season for David Moyes.
Big Sam not waiting around
Since Sam Allardyce has taken charge at West Brom, Albion’s form has somehow managed to get worse and worse.
Understandably, Big Sam is not willing to wait around and wants to add to his squad straight away and there are no surprises that he’s swooped to sign an experienced Premier League player.
Snodgrass is 33-years-old and in most of his 163 Premier League appearances, he’s played for a struggling team.
While adding to the winger area of the squad shouldn’t really be a priority for Allardyce and Luke Dowling, adding someone who always gives 110 per cent and has an element of leadership about him is needed.
At the moment, West Brom’s playing squad looks devoid of characters like that so if Snodgrass comes in, we’d expect him to have a bigger impact in the dressing room than on the pitch itself.
