View: West Brom man ranks as best in Europe for key stat, Bilic said he ‘has everything’

Conor Gallagher’s performances for West Brom this season have been something of a silver lining for the Baggies in the Premier League.

The Chelsea loanee’s quality has been highlighted by a stunning statistic that shows he is mixing with some of the best young talents in Europe currently.

According to Football Talent Scout, the West Brom midfielder has won the most tackles (41) of any U-21 player across Europe’s top five leagues.

Gallagher is in front of Barcelona loanee Emerson, who currently plays for Real Betis as well as highly rated French duo Boubacar Kamara and Eduardo Camavinga.

January recall would be disastrous for West Brom

There have not been any rumours that Chelsea may consider sending Gallagher elsewhere in January, but it has been something that Blues fans have discussed following Sam Allardyce’s arrival at the club.

Gallagher left Charlton early last season in order to join Swansea during the second half of the season and help the Swans try to push on for promotion.

The midfielder’s performances have certainly merited the opportunity to play at a higher level, but the Baggies must do all they can to keep hold of him beyond January.

According to WhoScored, Gallagher has been West Brom’s best performer of any player to feature in 10 or more Premier League games this season.

While an average match rating of 6.75 in the Premier League may not stand out, ex-Baggies boss Slaven Bilic compared the all-action midfielder to Frank Lampard earlier in the campaign.

Hailing the midfielder’s impact, Bilic was a clear fan and claimed that he ‘has everything’ in his game and predicted a bright future, saying: “You can see big things in him.”
