‘What a story’ – Sky pundit claims £60k/wk PL defender can do big job if he signs for West Brom

Sky Sports pundit Kyle Walker has said he thinks Danny Rose could do a job for West Brom as they look to strengthen in the January window.

Rose, who has been frozen out at Tottenham and left without a squad number by Jose Mourinho, was the subject of a discussion on Good Morning Transfers on Wednesday (Sky Sports, 10am).

Fellow pundit Jaydee Dyer said that Rose still had the tools and the experience to play at the highest level, with Spurs looking to move him on in the January window.

“When you talk about Danny Rose you have to talk about experience. 13 years at spurs, wealth of experience, played at the highest level of Euro competitions, represented his country.

“What I can say is for someone who has friends close to Danny Rose, the man wants to play football, he’s very passionate about football.

“He’s not in the squad, not even got a squad number. He can deliver at the highest level.”

Asked if he could do a job for West Brom, Walker said, “If you look at West Brom’s position, they need someone of that quality.

“If you look at him he wants to play football, he needs a club he can go to and get regular first-team football.

“I think he needs to move on. If he can go to West Brom and help keep them up, what a story that would be.”

No thanks

The only headlines that Danny Rose has made recently have been off the pitch and for the wrong reasons.

His rapid decline in the game came after falling out with Mauricio Pochettino in an interview with the Sun where he said he wanted to move to a club up north.

He’s been in and out (mainly out) of the team since and fell out with Jose Mourinho on-screen in the fly-on-the-wall Amazon documentary.

More recently, he was involved in a car accident just before Christmas and found himself under investigation by the police for dangerous driving.

At his peak, Rose was a fantastic player, but that peak has passed, and what West Brom need now more than anything now are solid, dependable, no-risk players.

Rose doesn’t fall into that category at all.
