Medical today: Percy delivers big West Brom transfer update, Allardyce on brink of first signing

Robert Snodgrass is set for a medical today at West Brom, ahead of a permanent move to the Baggies.

The big update has come from ultra-reliable source John Percy, from The Telegraph, who said that the West Ham winger is expected to sign an 18-month contract.

The 33-year-old will become Sam Allardyce’s first signing in a window when he’s expected to strengthen the current squad considerably.

Great signing for West Brom

This has moved quickly and it looked like Snodgrass was set for a permanent exit from West Ham after a heartfelt tweet he put out on Wednesday night.

West Brom fans will know all about Snodgrass, who has played at the top level for a long time.

He’ll bring his deadly set-piece skills to The Hawthorns and while some fans aren’t convinced by him, we think he can do a good job over the next 18 months.

At 33, he’s still got games left in his tank and he’s never been a player who’s suffered from injury problems.

He brings goals as well – he’s scored one in five in his 500-game career, and registered the same number of assists.

What we need at the moment is players who can come and be relied on to do a job. The only question mark over Snodgrass is fitness – he’s only played a few minutes of Premier League action this season – but we think he’s the sort of pro who would keep himself in shape.

We’re cautiously excited about the news.

In other news, Alan Shearer has made a transfer claim about the Baggies.
