West Brom duo test positive for COVID-19, injured pair set to return v Blackpool – Allardyce
West Brom duo Kyle Bartley and Sam Field have returned to training after being ruled out with injuries in the past month.
Sam Allardyce confirmed the news in his press conference on Thursday, but that Karlan Grant and Hal Robson-Kanu remain out.
The Baggies travel to Blackpool in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon and will be expected to make changes from their Premier League side.
Allardyce shared his team news on Thursday, and it was relayed by the Athletic journalist Steve Madeley on his personal Twitter account.
“Just finished on Sam Allardyce’s pre-match Zoom call ahead of the Blackpool FA Cup game,” he wrote.
“Kyle Bartley back in full training. Sam Field trained today too although it was a little vague on whether he’s in the frame for Saturday.”
Based on this information, it appears unlikely that Field will feature.
The young midfielder could be on the bench, but Jake Livermore could definitely return, especially after missing the past three Premier League games through suspension.
One thing that is certain, is that two players will miss out for the Baggies after testing positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
Joseph Masi of the Express and Star confirmed the news from the same press conference, something that has happened before at the Hawthorns.
Allardyce will be without at least four players against the Tangerines on Saturday, and some under-23s players could step up in their absence.
Robert Snodgrass could also feature, with his move from West Ham expected to be completed on Friday after his medical today
