‘Dogs dinner in defence’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts West Brom clash v Blackpool

Mark Lawrenson has backed West Brom to scrape through their FA Cup clash with Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.

The BBC pundit has predicted that the Baggies will beat the League One side 2-1 at Bloomfield Road on the Seaside.

The Albion have only won once in the Premier League this season and will be wanting a timely release from their dreadful recent record.

Writing on his BBC predictions column, Lawrenson claimed that the Baggies should have enough despite their terrible defence.

“A few of the teams struggling near the bottom of the Premier League have got games against teams in the bottom half of League One,” he said.

“West Brom look like a dog’s dinner in defence at the moment but they should have enough about them to beat a Blackpool side who have just started to struggle a bit.”

Sam Allardyce would do anything for a comfortable win on Saturday.

It has been nothing short of a shocking start for Big Sam at the Hawthorns, and losing recent games against Leeds and Arsenal by conceding nine goals won’t have helped.

We expect big changes against Blackpool, but there must be a core of experience in the side as they can’t afford a defeat.

Losing to the League One side would be the final nail in the coffin, and this must be used as a catalyst for the rest of the season, and a big victory would be the perfect result.
