Reliable journalist: WBA-linked striker to miss out on FA Cup as club ‘planning’ for departure

Bournemouth striker Josh King is expected to not feature in the FA Cup this weekend as links with West Brom and Newcastle continue to be mooted.

Alex Crook has reported that this is a “clear indication” that the Cherries are preparing for his departure this month in the January window.

The reliable journalist shared that King is happy to leave, and will now not be cup-tied should the Baggies get past Blackpool and secure a move for the Norweigan international.

West Brom

Speaking to talkSPORT on Friday, Crook claimed that no clubs, even the Albion have made an offer for King as things stand.

“Josh King at Bournemouth, he was one of the most talked-about players in the extended summer transfer window,” he said.

“West Brom and Newcastle are two more names that have been mentioned to me as possible destinations, as of this morning, no one has made a firm offer to Bournemouth.

“I don’t expect King to play for Bournemouth in the FA Cup tomorrow as they don’t want to make him cup-tied, which is usually a clear indication that they’re planning for his departure.”

West Brom

Bournemouth are said to still want £15million for their marquee forward, something Crook said they would be lucky to receive in this window.

King’s contract runs out in the summer, so the Baggies could get lucky with a cheap fee. The Sun did report that they are happy to pay that asking price though.

It would have to be in crazy instalments, though.

The Telegraph have already claimed that the Baggies won’t be able to spend more than £2million on single players this month – a disturbing update.

We don’t hold out much hope for this one.
