‘What Sam needs’ – Pundit: West Brom must sign playmaker looking like ‘a million dollars’

Trevor Sinclair has claimed that West Brom must sign Jack Wilshere in the January window to help their Premier Leauge survival bid.

The marquee free-agent is currently training with Bournemouth to maintain his fitness, but they have no plans to offer him a deal this season.

Sinclair believes that the playmaker is looking like a “million dollars” in training, and is proving his worth to any potential suitors this month.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Friday, Sinclair claimed that the Baggies need a player exactly like Wilshere to help their Premier League survival.

“He’s training well, not missing a day and looks a million dollars,” he said.

“I think if you could get him in on a pay-as-you-play deal, it’s a no-brainer. They’ve got Gallagher in there who’s a very combative player and Romaine Sawyers who will sit, but if you stick Wilshere in there he could be that forward player.”

“He’s got the quality to affect it and could be what Sam [Allardyce] needs.”

Reliable journalist Joseph Chapman recently claimed that Wilshere would “command a lot of money” in a crowded area in the Hawthorns.

It was suggested that it is unlikely that the Baggies will make a move for a player such as Wilshere, especially when the budget is so tight.

Matheus Pereira and Conor Gallagher in midfield have been two of the very few bright sparks in the past year for the Baggies, so bringing in another player in their position isn’t the answer.

After bringing in Robert Snodgrass on Friday, Sam Allardyce must now look to improve his options in the final third, especially with Charlie Austin leaving and Karlan Grant injured.

A million dollars or not, Wilshere isn’t the answer for the Albion.
