‘Offers us nothing’, ‘Hope he takes Dowling with him’: Some WBA fans thrilled by transfer update
West Brom striker Charlie Austin is a reported loan target of QPR, news which has been warmly greeted by a section of the Baggies fanbase.
The 31-year-old had a very successful spell in West London between 2013 – 2016, scoring 47 goals in 89 games for the Hoops.
Austin has not hit those heady heights at the Hawthorns, and there are many will be glad to see him leave.
Injuries to Hal Robson-Kanu and Karlan Grant mean Sam Allardyce is short of options up-front, yet a return of no goals in seven games this term means many supporters feel Austin’s exit would not be a loss.
Added to that, the former Southampton man only scored 11 goals last season, and is reportedly on £70,000 a week.
As such, freeing up some of his wages would create room for Big Sam to manoeuvre in the transfer market.
That could allow the Baggies boss to sign his own forward, with Josh King one possibility.
Many supporters are of the opinion that freeing up his wages is a positive, while others feel that he is simply no longer Premier League standard.
Either way, they have reached the same conclusion, with the tweets below offering a look into the discussion taking place.
