Sam Allardyce confirms West Brom interest in 28-year-old after two-goal haul on Saturday
West Brom boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in Bournemouth forward Josh King on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies are in dire straits after their defeat to Blackpool in the FA Cup, and Allardyce has set his sights on the Norwegian international.
It was a bleak afternoon for the Albion on Saturday, who started the game with no recognised striker and Cheikh Diaby on the bench.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Allardyce confirmed his interest but admitted that it will all depend on his price-tag.
“No idea what the price may be [for King],” he said.
“If the price is within our range then I think we would be interested, and if it’s out of our price range then we won’t.”
This is a clear area to strengthen.
Karlan Grant is currently out for the rest of the month, and with Charlie Austin leaving for Queens Park Rangers, Callum Robinson is the only available forward at the Hawthorns.
What will that price be?
The Sun reported that Bournemouth have demanded £15million for their star forward and that West Brom and Newcastle are happy to pay that fee.
There were suggestions that the Cherries were preparing for his departure this week, and were set to leave him out of their FA Cup squad against Oldham yesterday.
Of course, the 28-year-old went on to score twice and potentially show that killer instinct that the Baggies have been desperately missing this season.
Finances appear to be the only thing between the Albion and King this month, and hopefully, both clubs can come to an agreement, we’re clearly desperate.
