Kaveh Solhekol: WBA offered chance to sign Ligue 1 duo, option-to-buy on 28y/o striker
West Brom have been offered the chance to sign two players from Ligue 1 during the January transfer window, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Sky Sports journalist has reported that Clement Grenier and Angers striker Stephane Bahoken could both make the switch to the Hawthorns this month.
Links between the Baggies and Grenier have been widely reported, but Bahoken has now been offered as a loan with an option to buy for Sam Allardyce.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Transfer Show on Monday, Solhekol reported that the Baggies could make the move for Bahoken.
“They are telling us that West Brom have been offered the chance to sign two players,” he said.
“Sam Allardyce is keen on making additions to his squad this month. The first player is a Cameroon international striker who plays for Angers in France – his name is Stephane Bahoken, he’s been offered to West Brom as a loan with an option to buy.
“Maybe that would fit the bill as they could take him just on loan.”
We knew about the links with Grenier, with the Sun claiming on Monday that the Baggies board are putting together the finances over a potential deal.
The Baggies are desperate for a striker, so the chance to sign Bahoken could be made a priority now he has been made available.
Bahoken, 28, has featured 16 times in Ligue 1 this season for Angers, scoring five times – with his last outing coming on Saturday against Monaco.
Karlan Grant is currently out injured, and according to WhoScored, Bahoken averages significantly more shots on goal and key passes per game.
Big Sam is crying out for a new striker, and Bahoken could have just been offered to him at the perfect moment to turn his fortunes around.
