‘Deffo a target’ – Transfer expert shares update on wanted West Brom 24y/o
West Brom defender Cedric Kipre remains a target for Championship side Blackburn Rovers, according to Alan Nixon.
Kipre has only featured in the domestic cups for Albion since he arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer, seemingly failing to impress both Slaven Bilic and Sam Allardyce.
The 24-year-old remains a target for Rovers but transfer expert Nixon claimed that Albion may need to sign another centre back before letting Kipre leave.
Speaking on Twitter in reply to a Blackburn fan asking about any incoming transfers, Nixon said, “Kipre deffo a target.”
“But surely West Brom need a centre half first. Not like a loan deal to Rovers does them any good financially …”
This is a good point raised by Nixon as good central defenders are pretty thin on the ground at The Hawthorns.
We have been keen to see Kipre given a proper chance in the Premier League this season but it looks as if we may not be given this opportunity.
But in all honesty, if he can’t get into that defence ahead of Branislav Ivanovic is Kipre really worth keeping around?
Big Sam is targeting a lot of new players so if a centre back does join the Albion ranks this month it seems as though Kipre will be allowed to leave.
Sadly, this looks like it could be another wasted transfer by the club.
The financial point raised by Nixon is also worth noting as why would we just loan Kipre to Blackburn?
Surely we should either keep him around as back up or simply sell him to provide a small boost to the limited transfer funds the club has available.
With plenty of time left in the transfer window these questions as bound to be answered soon as we wait to see if Kipre will ever get a chance to shine in the Premier League.
