West Brom want int’l striker with 11 goals in 18, loan-to-buy deal on the cards – Sky Sports
West Brom are interested in signing Galatasaray centre-forward Mbaye Diange with the Senegal international potentially available on a loan-to-buy basis, according to Sky Sports.
The broadcaster claim in their Transfer Centre [Friday, 01:50pm] that Albion have turned their attention towards signing the former Club Brugge striker after failing to agree a loan deal with Hoffenheim for striker Ishak Belfodil.
Diagne, 29, has scored 11 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray this season.
Diagne to the rescue?
If West Brom want to stand any chance of staying up this season they need to sign themselves a new centre-forward who is going to get among the goals in the Premier League.
Karlan Grant has simply failed to cut it and with him injured, Charlie Austin out on loan at QPR and Hal Robson-Kanu in recovery, Callum Robinson is the club’s only fit striker going into the trip to Wolves this weekend.
Diagne is an out-and-out striker who has found himself in good form in recent weeks at Galatasaray but he is someone who’ll adapt to the Premier League?
The Senegal international is 29-years-old now and has already had spells in Saudi Arabia and China.
He was once on the books at Juventus but never made an appearance for them and saw his loan spell at Club Brugge last season go down the drain when he was punished for taking a penalty – and missing it- against Paris Saint-Germain he was instructed not to [BBC Sport].
We’d say we’d like to see Sam Allardyce sign a better striker and a more proven striker than Diagne but beggars cannot be choosers.
And Albion, with their paltry transfer budget, are definitely beggars at this point.
In other West Brom news, Albion have offered this key player a new £45,000-a-week contract.
