‘Masterclass’, ‘So sharp’ – These West Brom fans left awestruck by 24y/o v Wolves
West Brom star Matheus Pereira responded in the perfect fashion after reports of his unhappiness at the club earlier in the week.
After Callum Robinson was fouled inside the Wolves penalty area, the Albion were awarded an early penalty inside the opening 10 minutes.
There was some initial concern that the penalty may not have been given but after a quick VAR check, Big Sam’s men had the chance to open the scoring.
It was Pereira who scored, sending Rui Patricio the wrong way from the spot with a brilliant penalty.
Ahead of the derby against Wolves, it was reported by The Athletic that the Brazilian was unhappy at the club and this was the perfect response from the playmaker.
It was only Pereira’s second Premier League goal of the season, having not found the back of the net since the game against Everton at Goodison Park, way back in September.
Sam Allardyce will be hoping that the Brazilian can use the penalty as a springboard as Albion look to fight against relegation.
Unfortunately for Albion, their bright start was quickly taken away from them when a quick-fire double from Wolves saw the home side take a 2-1 lead just before half time.
However, it was Pereira who converted from the spot for a second time against Wolves in the second half after another foul on Robinson inside the penalty area.
