‘Players available’: Allardyce delivers big transfer update, says how many more players he wants

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce was on talkSPORT this morning and said that the result against Wolves was “fantastic”.

Asked whether saving the club from relegation was an “impossible task”, Allardyce said that it was all about improving the consistency of performances.

However, he knows he’s got a big task off the pitch, too, and said that he wants to bring in up to three more quality players after landing Robert Snodgrass.

Talking on the White & Jordan show (talkSPORT, Monday, 10.30am) about Saturday’s win, Allardyce said, “Being a local lad myself, it was pretty good. I said in the past I was a Wolves supporter but that was a long time ago.”

Asked if it was an impossible task to keep West Brom in the Premier League Allardyce said, “Impossible tasks mean you have to improve your performances on a regular basis. There’s still a long, long way to go.”

And on transfers, he said, “It’s a huge amount of work and it seems to be more active this time around than anything else I’ve experienced. There seems to be players available in all parts of the world but in our position it’s a difficult trade.

“We can offer them the chance to come and play for us but we can’t really buy them outright at the moment, so we’re looking at loans.

“Loans to buy if we stay in the Premier League are an option. We started with one very experienced, very good player in Robert Snodgrass and he showed some of his experience at Wolves.

“One, two or even three more quality players would be good. It’s a big task but one I’ve got to try and complete by the end of January.”

More like Snodgrass, please

Snodgrass proved himself to the West Brom fans straight away in a fantastic, passionate display against Wolves.

That’s exactly what we want to see in every game from every player for the rest of the season.

Too often under Bilic, our players have put in listless displays that don’t show they’re fighting for the badge.

Snodgrass has been here minutes and already shown as much passion as anyone else at the club.

Two or three more players like him and we think West Brom will have a great chance of staging one of the greatest escapes of all time.
