‘Great news’, ‘Come on’- These West Brom fans thrilled by official club update

West Brom will welcome back Karlan Grant and Matty Phillips to the squad to face Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Sam Allardyce’s men have already taken a point from second-placed City once this season, drawing 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium in December.

They’ll be looking to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium last Tuesday. Matheus Pereira had equalised for the Baggies with his third goal in two games before Michail Antonio got the winner in the second half.

Speaking to the official West Brom site Allardyce said: “I’m glad to say we have Matt Phillips and Karlan Grant back, that boosts our squad. It also gives us better opportunities to make substitutions and it gives us experience.

“Granty, before he got here, scored plenty of goals at Huddersfield so we would like him to be back in the team and finding positions to score goals.

“We want him to start scoring goals on a regular basis, as well as the other front players.”

Allardyce will be very glad to see Grant back in the Baggies squad, but will be anxious for the Englishman to begin scoring goals.

The 23-year-old was signed for £15m in the summer by former boss Slaven Bilic, but is yet to find any real form for his new side.

Grant has scored just one goal in the Premier League this season, a miserable return compared to his 19 in 44 appearances for Huddersfield last campaign.

Big Sam’s squad have really struggled to convert chances. As a whole, they have just 15 goals between them, one of the main reasons why they find themselves 19th in the table.

West Brom tweeted the team news to their one million followers on Monday morning. The announcement was met with great excitement – we here at West Brom News picked out the best reactions for you:
