Aston Villa new signing Sanson makes West Brom claim in first interview in English football

Aston Villa’s new signing Morgan Sanson cannot wait to play against West Brom, he confirmed in his first interview at Villa Park.

On Tuesday, Villa completed the French midfielder’s £16million signing from Marseille [Guardian].

With Sanson settling in at Villa Park, he was asked which team he is looking forward to playing against the most.

West Brom

And only one team sprang to his mind.

“West Brom, for the derby,” Sanson told Villa’s official website. “It’s a good game but in England, there are a lot of good games.

“[There are] very good teams and all the games are tough.

“That’s why I’m here.”

Bring it on

Albion have a lot of making up to do after losing so easily to Villa at The Hawthorns last month.

It was one of the worst derby day performances we’ve seen from a squad of West Brom players at home so they must do a lot better on April 24 when they meet again at Villa Park.

Sanson sounds as though he’s up for it already and we hope that whoever Albion sign between now and the end of the transfer window are also up for it.

Robert Snodgrass already showed a lot of desire in the 3-2 win against Wolves away at Molineux earlier this month so whoever Sam Allardyce signs must do similar.

That win at Wolves was a massive one and the performance away at West Ham was encouraging although it ended in defeat for the Baggies.

Let’s see if we can build on the win over Wolves. It’s a long time before we face Villa and Wolves again with both matches scheduled to take place back to back at the moment.

In other West Brom news, there’s been yet another twist in the ownership riddle at the club.
