Sky Sports delivers major West Brom transfer update as Big Sam hunts for PL attacker

Sky Sports have claimed that West Brom have made a formal enquiry for Man United attacker Jesse Lingard, with reporter Anton Toloui saying a move “makes a lot of sense”.

A move might make a lot of sense but West Brom are not going to find it easy, with West Ham also keen on a move for the Premier League attacker.

On Good Morning Transfers (Sky Sports, Tuesday, 10.30am), news broke as relayed by the host: “In the last few minutes we have learned that West Brom have made an enquiry for Jesse Lingard.”

Toloui said, “Makes a lot of sense. They’re looking for creativity and need goals.

“The interesting thing and why we’re saying it’s an enquiry is how much would it take to get him out of the club?”

West Brom

Lingard a long shot

How much would it cost? That’s the million-dollar question surrounding every single potential deal for West Brom at the moment.

We don’t have the money for a big loan fee and it’s unlikely that we’d be able to pay all of Lingard’s wages – he’s on a reported £75k-a-week at United.

That means that we’re always going to be a last choice for clubs and with West Ham interested we might have to wait for crumbs off their table.

A move for Lingard does make sense though.

The former England international is in a funk and Big Sam could be the man to light a fire under him.

He’s played 80 minutes in the FA Cup this year and will be match fit. And it’s extremely unlikely that we’re going to get any better than him with just days left in the transfer window.

We’re going to keep our fingers crossed for this and hope that maybe Man United might prefer to send him to us with West Ham challenging in the European places.
