Sky Sports share big update on Christian Benteke-West Brom transfer speculation
Christian Benteke is happy to stay at Crystal Palace amid interest from West Brom and is unphased by Roy Hodgson signing another striker in Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to Sky Sports.
The broadcaster reported via their Transfer Centre on Tuesday [04:01pm] that Benteke, 30, is expected to stay at Selhurst Park despite being one of Sam Allardyce’s striker targets at West Brom.
Benteke has only started seven Premier League matches for Palace this season but he’s reportedly happy to stay in South London and believes he’ll have more options as a free agent in the summer when his contract expires.
Another one bites the dust
How many strikers have West Brom been linked with now? And how many have we seen be not interested in a move to The Hawthorns or the club has been price out of a deal? Pretty much all of them.
At this rate, Big Sam is going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Albion are second from bottom in the Premier League and one of the favourites to be relegated with a manager who isn’t known for getting the most out of attacking players in recent years.
The Baggies are also strapped for cash due to a lack of investment from the owner – whoever that is – so getting someone in of any quality is going to be a massive challenge.
We feel a bit for Big Sam. He must have been promised more success in the transfer window than this.
But now it’s time for him to show why he’s the man to keep us in the Premier League. It’s time for him to get that black book out and use his contacts at numerous clubs to find a new striker to spearhead the attack.
Karlan Grant isn’t cutting it and only Matheus Pereira and Semi Ajayi seem capable of scoring goals for the new manager.
In other West Brom news, there’s been yet another twist in the ownership riddle at the club.
