Medical soon: Player set to jet into UK after West Brom agree deal – Sky Sports journo

West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Senegal striker Mbaye Diagne on a loan-to-buy basis from Galatasaray, according to Rob Dorsett.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning, the Sky Sports journalist reported that Diagne, 29, is set to jet into the UK for a medical with the Baggies, who are desperate for new additions in a bid to avoid relegation back to the CHampionship.

It is understood that plans are being made for Diagne to arrive in the Black Country ahead of joining Albion on an initial loan with the option for it to be made permanent.

Too little too late?

It’s hard to get excited about new signings when the team is in such bad form.

Sam Allardyce oversaw yet another heavy home defeat on Tuesday night when Manchester City battered the Baggies at The Hawthorns 5-0.

Albion’s home form has been pathetic under Big Sam and we just don’t see how a new striker is going to help anything when we’re not creating chances and conceding goals at a rate that has never been seen before at The Hawthorns.

Diagne has been in good form in Turkey this season, scoring nine goals in 15 league appearances for Galatasaray.

However, have any of those goals been scored against some of the better teams in Turkey like Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Trabzonspor or Basaksehir? No, they haven’t.

Diagne is an experienced striker who’s played across Europe and even in China and Saudi Arabia but the best quality leagues he’s played in are probably in Turkey and Belgium.

We hope to be proven wrong but we really fail to see how Diagne can help us out the situation we’re in.
