Reliable journalist: West Brom table ‘last offer’ for midfielder, loan with £4.4m obligation
RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi has said that West Brom have tabled their “last offer” for Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuslu.
Tanzi said this would be a “paying loan” with an obligation to buy him for £4.4m (€5m) if West Brom stay in the Premier League.
He claims that West Brom are expecting to hear back from Celta Vigo later today.
Tanzi posted the major update on his personal Twitter page on Wednesday morning.
Two in one day?
The last we heard of this was that Celta Vigo wouldn’t sanction a loan move for Yokuslu and were only interested in a permanent sale.
This offer doesn’t get anywhere near that, with an obligation to buy only enforceable if West Brom stay in the Premier League.
After last night’s result, it would be a brave club that would gamble on that.
However, the Turkey international has only made three starts in La Liga this season and it could all come down to Celta Viga’s need to move him on.
As a “paying loan” West Brom would likely be paying all of his wages and there’s still a chance that we can turn things round in the Premier League if we get the right players in.
The first part of that jigsaw was all-but confirmed on Wednesday with news that a deal for striker Mbaye Diagne has been agreed.
Positive news on Yokuslu on top of this would take the edge off a pretty grim morning after the mauling by Man City last night.
Saying that, we were never expected to get anything out of last night’s game – the next two, against Fulham and Sheffield United, are the key matches as far as Premier League survival goes.
In other news, there’s been a big update on the ownership mystery at The Hawthorns.
