‘Been told’ – Big Sam set to offload WBA first-team player in desperate bid to free up funds
Things are getting pretty desperate at West Brom ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Big Sam wants to bring in at least two players but money is tight and he confirmed that he’s ready to offload Kamil Grosicki to free up funds.
Talking to the Birmingham Mail Allardyce said, “He [Grosicki] could have gone to Nottingham Forest but he refused.”
“He has already been told if the right opportunity comes up for him he can leave because that obviously puts more funds in the pot to bring more players in before the deadline.”
Grosicki the fall guy
One thing is sure – we’re guaranteed a pretty dramatic last few days of the window.
Big Sam is going to have to pull out all his years of wheeler-dealing experience as he bids to bring in players who can save West Brom from the drop.
It looked like Grosicki was going to get a reprieve after starting in two games, including the win against Wolves.
However, now it appears he’s going to be the fall guy as Allardyce desperately tries to maximise the money he can spend.
It’s a pretty tawdry way for a club to do business six months after getting promoted to the Premier League, but we are where we are.
According to Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi, Allardyce wants two players in before Tuesday, with Mbaye Diagne looking like the striker and Okay Yokuslu being strongly touted as a defensive midfielder option.
We’d want to see progress on these today.
