Club boss claims he will have to sell before allowing West Brom linked 23y/o to leave

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on West Brom linked Hamza Choudhury as deadline day approaches.

David Ornstein of The Athletic claimed earlier this week that Albion still hold interest in the midfielder and the club are one of the front runners to secure his signature on loan.

Rodgers spoke on Friday about Choudhury’s situation, which has now been impacted by an injury sustained by fellow midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

Rodgers is quoted by BBC Leicester Sport as saying, “For me, we need another attacking player in.

“If we can do that, then it will give the opportunity for Hamza to go out. We can’t afford to lose anyone without getting someone in”

Another one of the interested parties is Newcastle with Steve Bruce, quoted by The Chronicle, admitting that the Foxes midfielder is someone he likes.

Albion look like they’ll be waiting to see if Leicester manage to sign another player before allowing Choudhury to leave which isn’t ideal for Sam Allardyce.

We can’t afford to be doing deals right up to the deadline as this increases the risk of potential transfers falling through.

Look what happened with Kamil Grosicki in the summer.

His forms were submitted just seconds after the deadline passed and this was enough to scupper a move to Nottingham Forest.

With no guarantee that Leicester will bring someone in it may be time for Big Sam to look elsewhere so he can make sure that he can confirm another new arrival.

Perhaps that player could be Ainsley Maitland-Niles as The Athletic report that the Baggies are interested in his services.

With the Choudhury transfer potentially off the table, we may see the club ramp up their attempts to sign the Arsenal man.

In other West Brom news, one player has turned down a loan approach from Albion.
