Medical pending: West Brom agree personal terms with midfielder – Fabrizio Romano

West Brom have agreed personal terms Okay Yokuslu with the midfielder edging towards a loan from Celta Vigo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Friday morning, the Sky Sports Italy journalist reported that Yokuslu, 26, is set to join the Baggies on a straight loan deal with no obligation or option for the transfer to be made permanent.

Transfer guru Romano adds that the deal is pending medicals and work permit.

Here we go

One of the main areas Sam Allardyce has had to strengthen this month is the defensive midfield position and Yokuslu will definitely do that.

The 6ft 3 midfielder has been in and out of the Celta Vigo squad this season, appearing in 14 matches across all competitions and only starting three times in La Liga.

West Brom

Stats by Wyscout show that the Turkey international has averaged 5.67 interceptions, 10.45 recoveries and 2.13 clearances per 90 minutes of La Liga football this season with Celta Vigo. He’s also won 57.5 per cent of defensive duels and 64.5 per cent of aerial duels.

He’s a big guy who knows how to put himself about and he might be someone who can offer an extra layer of defensive steel to what has been an extremely weak Albion midfield in the Premier League.

Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore simply haven’t been cutting it this season and hopefully, Yokuslu will be able to make an improvement in a key area of the squad.
