Allardyce delivers major Musa update as West Brom look to add to Diagne signing

Ahmed Musa has still not turned up for his West Brom trial with the Baggies waiting for two weeks now, according to Sam Allardyce.

Musa has been offered the chance to impress Albion ahead of a potential short-term contract as Big Sam attempts to increase his strength in depth ahead of a crucial second half of the season.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after his release from Saudia Arabian side Al Nassr in October 2020 so there are less hurdles to overcome if the club do want to sign him.

As reported in Express & Star, Allardyce is none the wiser as to the whereabouts of Musa, saying: “He hasn’t arrived yet.

“We are still waiting so I don’t know what the situation is. We have been waiting for two weeks now.

“I’m not totally up to speed with the situation because it’s not been my main focus.”

One attacker confirmed

One man who will definitely be seen soon is Senegal striker Mbaye Diagne who completed his move from Galatasaray on Friday evening.

He flew into England late on Friday but has been registered in time to be able face Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

With Diagne through the door perhaps the need for Musa is not as great as it might have been.

They are very different players with Diagne a much more prolific player offering more physicality while Musa is all about speed and using his direct running in behind defences.

However with Diagne at the club it frees up Callum Robinson to be able to play in a wider position while Albion also have the likes of Matheus Pereira, Robert Snodgrass and Karlan Grant who can play in behind or out wide.

Whether any of the above can actually match Musa’s electrifying pace though is doubtful and the team could certainly do with some energetic legs to stretch defences, particularly late in games.

Albion will be hopeful Musa turns up soon.

In other West Brom news, Mbaye Diagne could be in line for debut v Fulham.
