‘Horrendous’, ‘League 1 standard’ – These WBA fans fuming at one player in 2-2 v Fulham

West Brom fans got a lot of angst off their chests today and aimed most of it at Dara O’Shea who had an afternoon to forget at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies went a goal down within the first ten minutes, after some abysmal defending from O’Shea and Kieron Gibbs.

Mitrovic and Deocordova-Reid linked up well and the latter slotted past Sam Johnstone to give Fulham the lead.

The boss opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation against Fulham, dropping Romaine Sawyers and Karlan Grant after the humiliating 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

However, O’Shea was hooked after just 24 minutes in a tactical switch and fans were glad to see the back of the defender as we switched to a back four.

Thankfully, after a terrible first-half, we got it together in the second 45 with a quick equaliser from Kyle Bartley.

Mbaye Diagne came on for his debut and made the second for Matheus Pereira to give us a turnaround.

We couldn’t hold on, though, as Ivan Cavaleiro scored an equaliser and denied Albion the vital three points.

Big Sam had said four points from this game and the one against the Blades was the worst-case scenario.

That’s pressure on now after a spirited Sheffield United performance saw Chris Wilder’s men unlucky to lose 1-0 at the Etihad.

It could have been worse today but it could, and should, have been much better.

Fans were particularly unhappy with the contribution from O’Shea at the back – here are the best reactions…
