Allardyce delivers WBA transfer update as Diagne signs, details how many more signings he wants

West Brom confirmed the loan signing of Mbaye Diagne on Friday but Sam Allardyce is keen to add more players to his squad.

Albion have been heavily linked to forward Ahmed Musa and midfielder Okay Yokuslu, and Big Sam hinted at the possibility of two more coming through the door.

Allardyce shared his plans for the remainder of the transfer window in a press conference on Friday.

As reported by the Press Association, he said, “We have one more loan available from abroad and this country. That will be our objective, to bring in two more players in this window.”

Leaving it late

The arrival of Diagne is a big positive and we hope others arrive too.

Recent results have highlighted the urgent need for reinforcements, and Diagne should give us more firepower up-front since he has scored 11 goals in 19 games this season.

It is a little frustrating that his deal was not completed sooner, however, as he will miss the crucial match against Fulham.

Allardyce has suggested it can take a while for January signings to get up to speed, so Diagne should have been brought it sooner.

We have three matches in the next week, too, including a vital clash against Sheffield United.

Unfortunately, that limits the time available on the training pitch, so Diagne will be forced to get used to his new teammates in real time – in actual matches.

He will be under pressure to perform too since he is currently our biggest signing of the window and holds a key responsibility – to score the goals to keep us up.

As a result, we are a little nervous about the immediate impact our January signings will make.

In other West Brom news, Club boss claims he will have to sell before allowing West Brom linked 23y/o to leave.
