UK-bound player left out of squad as West Brom close in on another transfer – report
Okay Yokuslu is travelling to the UK after being left out of the Celta Vigo squad to face Granada on Sunday evening ahead of his season-long loan move to West Brom.
That is according to the Daily Mail with Albion desperate to secure the services of the Turkey international to bolster their midfield ranks.
Yokuslu is set to join the Baggies on a loan deal without an option to make the deal permanent after he expressed uncertainty over playing in the Championship next season should the worst happen and West Brom suffer relegation.
The Daily Mail report that Yokuslu has been dropped from the Celta Vigo squad that has travelled to Granada ahead of their La Liga clash on Sunday evening with the 26-year-old instead heading to the UK to sign on the dotted line.
Yokuslu has made 14 appearances for the Galicia-based side this season but they are open to letting him leave.
He is a central midfielder who is also capable of filling in at centre-back and looks set to become Albion’s latest addition at The Hawthorns with Andy Lonergan, Robert Snodgrass and Mbaye Diagne already signed this month.
Big Sam set to clinch big signing
It looks like Albion will finally get their man after this latest key development.
Despite rumours swirling over his future Celta Vigo have still continued to place their faith in Yokuslu as he has started twice in January and came on at half-time in their most recent outing, a 1-1 draw with Eibar on January 24.
Sam Allardyce dropped Romaine Sawyers for the first time in the Premier League game since he took charge at The Hawthorns against Fulham on Saturday, and it was the first time the 29-year-old has not featured in a Premier League match since November 8.
Conor Gallagher lined up alongside Jake Livermore in the middle of midfield as Big Sam reshuffled his pack into a 3-4-3 formation so it will be interesting to see whether this tactic is kept up when Yokuslu joins.
He will expect to slot straight in to add more bite and defensive nous to this porous Albion side that is leaking goals left right and centre.
