Club hand West Brom major boost in striker hunt, Albion given ‘green light’ – report

Crystal Palace will allow Christian Benteke to sign for West Brom with Sam Allardyce still looking to bring in another striker this month, according to The Sun

It was thought the Palace would not allow Benteke to leave in January but the thinking from the Eagles seems to have changed according to this latest report.

Albion have already signed Mbaye Diagne from Galatasaray this month but Big Sam may yet be able to secure the services of another forward.

West Brom

The Sun claim that Palace have given West Brom the ‘green light’ to sign the Belgian forward as the transfer window reaches its last days.

Whether Albion will make a move for Benteke is unknown following Diagne’s impressive debut against Fulham in which he picked up an assist.

The report claims that the Eagles are keen to get Benteke off the wage bill but his reported £120,000 a week wages could prevent a deal with the Baggies going through.

Allardyce will have been encouraged by Diagne’s debut against Fulham as he proved to be much more of a handful than Karlan Grant.

Any of Grant’s performances this season pale in comparison to Diagne’s debut as he picked up an assist and made Albion a better team following his half time arrival.

The ball he fired into Matheus Pereira was inch-perfect and if he can do that on a regular basis then we will be scoring a lot more goals in the second half of the campaign.

Big Sam looks to still be keen on Benteke however with the January window drawing to a close.

Another forward would be welcomed at The Hawthorns as, again, we have not been impressed by Grant this season and Callum Robinson is much better on the wing.

Let’s see if Big Sam decides to make a move for Benteke before Monday’s deadline.
