Report: West Brom to shell out £6m on player if they avoid relegation

West Brom have agreed to sign Mbaye Diagne on a permanent basis once his loan ends, according to Turkish outlet Fotospor.

The 29-year-old made his debut on Saturday and impressed some supporters, and the report outlines how much Albion will have to spend on him.

If he helps West Brom to survival he will cost another £6million, on top of the £1.4million loan fee it took to prise him away from Galatasary.

Should the Baggies suffer relegation, however, then Diagne will cost another £4million.

West Brom

Showing good signs

Diagne showed on his debut that he could have a very positive impact at the Hawthorns.

He assisted Matheus Pereira’s goal and put the Fulham back line under pressure when he came on at half-time.

The striker made two key passes in total according to WhoScored, an impressive effort in what was his Premier League debut.

As a result, the news that we may have to fork out £4m to have him in the Championship is not such a bad thing.

There is even the possibility he could keep us up, too, with Conor Gallagher suggesting Diagne could make a big difference in the second half of the season.

If he does score the goals to ensure survival he will be worth every penny of his £6m price tag.

It is very early to evaluate this signing but it appears Sam Allardyce has done well, particularly given the financial restraints he was working under.

Hopefully we add more players to the squad before the window slams shut, and if they can match Diagne’s debut then there could be more positive results ahead.
