The Athletic share West Brom priority after Okay Yokuslu, PL talent ‘serious possibility’

West Brom have made a right-sided defender their priority in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

It is reported that Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuslu is expected to move to The Hawthorns in the next 24 hours, but they won’t stop there.

Sam Allardyce is keen to take advantage of their final domestic loan spot, with Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga reportedly on the radar.

West Brom

The Athletic have suggested that Tanganga is a “serious possibility” with Big Sam wanting to increase his defensive options.

After the arrival of Joe Rodon in the summer, Jose Mourinho hasn’t been able to hand the young defender many chances this season.

It is reported that clubs in Italy and in Scotland are interested in the 21-year-old as well, something which suggests the Baggies may have to move quickly.

Tanganga is yet to feature in the Premier League this season and has completed 270 minutes in the Europa League for Spurs.

Surely Mourinho would prefer one of his players to stay in the Premier League and pick up valuable experience before returning in the summer.

West Brom

Options shrinking.

Allardyce admitted on Saturday that the Baggies would love to sign Arsenal wing-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles, but it appears highly unlikely.

The Athletic suggest that pursuit is over already, with the Gunners defender set to join either Southampton or Leicester.

With one day remaining in the window, a move to West Brom appears more likely for Tanganga, and the Baggies must make their move, now.
