Sky Sports share West Brom transfer blow in midfielder hunt

West Brom will make a move for Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury if the Foxes give them the green light but he would prefer a move to Newcastle, according to Sky Sports.

Choudhury has been continuously linked with Albion this month but it now seems that if the opportunity to sign him arises, he would turn down a move.

On Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk programme, it was claimed that the midfielder would prefer a move to St James’ Park over a switch to The Hawthorns.

The host said, “Newcastle and West Brom are both ready to make moves for Hamza Choudhury if Leicester give them the green light.

“It is thought at the moment though, Choudhury is keen on a move to link up with Steve Bruce at Newcastle.”

With Sam Allardyce still keen to fill up both loan spots available to him it seems as though he has been handed a major blow in his hunt for a new midfielder.

We have been linked with a host of players who could fill our last domestic loan spot this month with Choudhury chief among them.

After being so heavily linked with a move for the midfielder it would be frustrating to lose him to another Premier League club who are potentially fighting relegation.

With time running out in the January transfer window it remains to be seen if Big Sam has other targets lined up.

The fact of the matter is, we are not an attractive club at the moment and that is the reason why we have missed out on so many deals.

On a more positive note, it is probably better that we will be signing players who actually want to be here rather than players who aren’t up to fighting in a relegation battle.
