‘Release’, ‘Worst player on the pitch’ – These WBA fans tear into ‘liability’ vs Sheffield Utd
West Brom suffered a huge blow in their survival bid after losing to Sheffield United on Tuesday, and fans were left fuming at the performance of Dara O’Shea.
The full-back was at fault for both goals and naturally, that led to a significant amount of criticism.
Albion were looking good for all three points after Matt Phillips fired us into the lead, but two failed clearances from O’Shea gave Sheffield United two golden opportunities.
First, the 21-year-old failed to clear a cross with his header instead finding Chris Basham in the penalty area – Jayden Bogle then scored moments later.
The winner came in pretty much the same fashion.
Again, a cross to the back-post should have easily been cleared by O’Shea, who was under no pressure.
He made a hash of his attempted clearance and Billy Sharp pounced on the loose ball to score.
It seems O’Shea’s mistakes may have all but confirmed relegation with his performance.
We are still nine points from safety and now just one point off bottom with Sheffield United getting the three points.
We would like to see O’Shea dropped and many other fans think the same way.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles has signed and it was a shame that he couldn’t play last night. He would also provide more of a threat going forward.
