Agent: Club ready to offer £15,000-a-wk deal to sign West Brom player who manager loves
Polish football agent Tomasz Hajto has revealed that Kamil Grosicki has started to attract attention from Turkey after been axed from the West Brom squad by Sam Allardyce.
Grosicki, 32, is in the final months of his contract at The Hawthorns and could be released on a free transfer even though the January window has now closed [Meczyki].
As quoted by Polish news outlet Meczyki, Hajto has confirmed that Turkish Super Lig clubs Hatayspor and Fatih Karagumruk have called him about potentially signing Grosicki.
Hajto, who has close ties to Grosicki, said: “The coach of the Hatayspor team called me. Three days ago he asked me what Kamil was doing. He is in love with him. The club did not meet Kamil’s financial requirements. They are the seventh-placed team. This trainer is incredibly fascinated. Until the end, he asked about Kamil. I gave him the number, told him to call him
He added: “Fatih Karagumruk also called me in relation to Kamil. I gave them his number. ‘Grosik’ is highly respected in Turkey. It has an amazing reputation there, until I was surprised. The president called me and I know that he talked to Kamil.”
One of Grosicki’s former clubs Legia Warsaw are also interested in signing the Albion winger but they could be blown out of the water when it comes to finances.
Ex-Poland and Southampton player Hajto said: “Legia is definitely higher than this Turkish club when it comes to brand in Europe. These are tough decisions now. You have to take one thing into account. If you want to go to [the European Championships], you come back to Legia. But it will be hard to leave later. This is his last contract. Hatayspor was able to pay – and I know what apanages there are – about [£15,000-a-week]. Nowadays, this is unrealistic money for Polish clubs.”
Turbo to go
It would be a massive shock if Grosicki is still a West Brom player by the end of the month because a lot of teams have been linked with signing him now.
Allardyce clearly doesn’t view him as a part of his first-team plans in the Black Country and amid reports that he’s earning £40,000-a-week with the Baggies [Meczyki], getting rid of Turbo makes sense.
Grosicki’s played his part at West Brom in the last year.
He had a few good performances last season to help us win promotion from the Championship and did well in the 3-2 win away at Wolves last month.
Other than that, it’s been a quiet spell at the Albion for the Polish speed machine, who is bound to have his sights on making the Poland squad for the European Championships this year.
We can’t blame Grosicki for wanting out and we can’t blame Big Sam for wanting him gone too either.
Allardyce gave him a few games to show his worth and he clearly didn’t do enough to justify the wages he’s reportedly on.
In other West Brom news, Albion made a late swoop for this Barcelona player but failed.
