West Brom handed big player boost ahead of clash v Tottenham – report
Okay Yoskulu has been granted a work permit that allows him to play for West Brom, according to The Sun.
That means he is available for selection against Tottenham on Sunday in what would be his first game in English football.
The Turk only flew into the UK on Thursday despite signing on loan on Monday, and that is likely due to the delay in his work permit being granted.
The Sun adds that fellow deadline-day signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles will also be available for Sam Allardyce against Spurs.
Too little too late?
Yokuslu seems like a smart addition given his La Liga experience, but he is arriving in less than ideal circumstances.
Squad morale is likely at rock bottom following the defeat to relegation rivals Sheffield United, which took our run under Big Sam to just one win in ten games.
We look vulnerable at the back with 28 goals conceded in that period, so Yokuslu faces an uphill battle.
His style as a midfielder is to protect the back four but with glaring deficiencies in defence he is unlikely to solve our issues all on his own.
Dara O’Shea’s failed clearances giving the Blades two goals on Tuesday is a case in point.
Yokuslu could improve us but we are already ten points off relegation.
He should have been brought in earlier as the fixture against Sheffield United was arguably the biggest of the season.
Our next two games are not exactly ideal for the 26-year-old’s introduction, either.
Tottenham and Manchester United are tricky opponents despite the former’s dip in form.
Yoksulu is probably not match fit either since he has started just three league games this season.
We are not expecting too much from the new signing straight away because of that, and instead the games against Burnley and Brighton later this month will provide the real chance for Yokuslu to shine.
