‘I can promise West Brom fans…’ – Big Sam sends defiant message to Albion supporters

Sam Allardyce has told West Brom fans that if the club gets relegated then it won’t be through lack of effort with Albion in a perilous league position.

The loss to Sheffield United and results on Saturday leave Albion 11 points from safety as the prospect of staying up looks more unlikely with every passing week.

Big Sam boasts an impressive record of never being relegated from the Premier League but he insists that he isn’t thinking about his record when it comes to West Brom.

Allardyce told The Mirror, “People have questioned why I took on West Brom. They say my record of never being relegated is in danger of being broken this season.

“But that’s not a concern for me. It’s not about my past. It’s about what I can do now, can I take on the challenge.

“That’s the way I’m approaching it, in a positive light. I’m not thinking about failure. If it doesn’t work out I can promise West Brom fans it won’t be for the want of trying.”

While we have seen some improved performances under the new boss we have also seen some shockers.

The 5-0 losses to Leeds and Manchester City, the 4-0 loss to Arsenal, these performances did not show a team who were fighting for their lives.

On the other hand, we have seen massive performances against Liverpool and Wolves in which it looked like survival was possible.

We can’t afford to have any more games where the effort level drops below 110%, it is that simple.

Too many times we have said that performances against certain teams have been unacceptable, under both Slaven Bilic and Allardyce.

Effort does not always guarantee results but there have been too many times this season when the effort hasn’t been there.

At the moment, the bare minimum we need to see against Tottenham is some proper effort from the staff and more importantly the players.

In other West Brom news, this report claims that we have run out of money as we look set to lose out on Ahmed Musa.
