‘Embarrassing’, ‘Get him out’ – Many West Brom fans rage over footage of Big Sam in loss v Spurs
West Brom fans are furious with manager Sam Allardyce after he was spotted fooling around on the touchline in the latter stages of the 2-0 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.
After the ball went out of play by him, Big Sam picked up the ball and pretended to take a quick throw-in.
BT Sport’s cameras caught Allardyce’s attempt at a joke – but it landed terribly among a lot of West Brom supporters on Twitter.
Albion fans have had to put up with their team underperforming for almost a year now and seeing the manager failing to take a defeat to Spurs seriously rubbed many supporters the wrong way.
Yes, he was just joking about and trying to add some humour to what was otherwise another dour defeat, but the timing wasn’t funny at all.
One fan wants the club to “get him out” while another dubbed Big Sam’s antics as embarrassing.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

It’s not Allardyce’s failed attempt at humour that should be annoying fans – it’s his tactics and team selection.
How is Matheus Pereira not starting? Big Sam claimed the decision to drop Pereira was tactical but how is there any good tactical decision on earth that means your best player is left out?
If anything, Allardyce should be building his team around Pereira based on how well he did in January with the Brazilian attacker nominated for the player of the month award.
We cannot just sit back and hope for the best in any match now – we need to go out and try to win matches.
Albion didn’t do that at all against Spurs and that’s down to the man in the dugout.
In other West Brom news, Albion made a late swoop for this Barcelona player but failed.
