These West Brom fans react to debut of Ainsley Maitland-Niles in 2-0 defeat v Spurs

West Brom crashed to yet another defeat in their Premier League clash against Spurs on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-0.

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son fired home goals in the second-half after the Baggies showed no real threat for the first hour.

Sam Allardyce made some bold calls in his team selection, dropping Matheus Pereira, and starting the likes of Lee Peltier instead.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles was handed his debut in midfield.

The 23-year-old didn’t enjoy the best of starts against his North London rivals, finishing with a 5.98 WhoScored match rating.

The midfielder only managed to make two tackles, as he was simply bypassed in midfield after years of playing wing-back at the Emirates.

It isn’t the easiest debut at Spurs, and it won’t get much better with Manchester United up next, he must step up.

Maitland-Niles must be helped though, and the presence of Okay Yokuslu behind him could give him the freedom he needs to show how good he can be.

Many West Brom fans have reacted to his debut against Spurs, with the majority claiming that he should start every game between now and the end of the season.

The majority were pleased, but some did claim that Allardyce’s selection didn’t help the team of Maitland-Niles in the capital.
