Injured West Brom talent to rejoin loan club next week, back playing by March – Journalist

West Brom forward Callum Morton has endured the worst season of his professional career in the past year.

The Baggies talent helped steer Northampton into League One last season, earning promotion at Wembley in the play-off final.

After that, he sealed a loan switch to Lincoln City, where he started to work alongside Michael Appleton before a freak injury ruled him out for months.

Appleton confirmed some great news this week, relayed by Steve Madeley on Twitter, that Morton could be back playing for Lincoln in March.

“Some encouraging news on Albion striker Callum Morton, on loan with Lincoln, who’s been out injured since September,” he wrote

“Michael Appleton has told local media he’s due back at Lincoln next week and could be playing again by mid-March.”

This is brilliant news.

The 21-year-old has only managed to make five appearances this season, and we’re hoping that he can get back and add some to that between March and the end of the campaign.

It was a freak shoulder injury in the gym, and it won’t have been expected, which will have potentially have made it even worst personally.

Morton had just scored his first goal against Bradford before his injury, so he could have been about to start a brilliant run of form.

The young striker signed a new deal at The Hawthorns over the summer, and will have been hoping to prove himself to the Albion.

With Championship football potentially beckoning, a positive end to the season could see Morton do just that ahead of next season.
