‘Nailed on’, ‘Cracking fit’ – Many West Brom fans want 45y/o to replace Big Sam as manager

West Brom fans are calling for the club to hire Michael Appleton as their next manager if Sam Allardyce ends up leaving.

According to The Athletic’s Steve Madeley, Albion might not be far away from being forced into a decision on Big Sam’s future at The Hawthorns with the survival expert completely failing to improve the team’s form since replacing Slaven Bilic in January.

Allardyce has taken charge of 11 matches for the Albion, winning just once and conceding a ridiculous 33 goals in the process.

West Brom’s survival hopes already look dead and buried so some fans are now discussing what lies ahead for the Baggies as it’s looking likely they’ll be back in the Championship for next season.

As Allardyce will have played a major role in the relegation, it’s unlikely the club will stand by him, nor will it be likely he will want to stick around.

And that is why so many supporters are hoping West Brom turn to Michael Appleton if they do part company with Big Sam.

Appleton, 45, is flying high in League One with Lincoln City, who are three points clear at the top of the third-tier with a game in hand.

The former Albion midfielder, assistant manager, caretaker manager and Under-23s manager has plenty of coaching experience under his belt.

Not only does he have a broad knowledge of West Brom, he’s also managed at Portsmouth, Blackpool Blackburn, Oxford United and current club Lincoln.

It’s fair to say he’s honed his trade in the lower divisions and with the Imps looking good for promotion to the Championship, he could be a clever next appointment for the Baggies.

That is the view of many West Brom fans on Twitter, with one saying he “would be a cracking fit“.
