West Brom fans show love for Odemwingie as he commemorates Wolves 5-1
West Brom beat Wolves 5-1 nine years ago this week and Peter Odemwingie shared his thoughts on the memorable match.
He described his appreciation to have played for the Albion on such an occasion, showing love to the club in his Twitter post.
Many supporters have naturally returned that love as it it is a game that sticks out in the memory more than most.
It is a reminder of when West Brom were a strong side in the Premier League too.
We finished 10th that season, a remarkable five points behind Liverpool.
Odemwingie finished as top scorer with ten league goals – he scored a total of 31 in 90 games for the Baggies.
Contrast that record to what we have now – our current strikers have just three league goals between them this term.
It is little surprise that fans have reacted so well to the Nigerian’s post, especially as he scored a hat-trick at Molineux that day.
We may be relegated this season but the 3-2 win over Wolves will be a highlight.
They had nine years of waiting to get their own back and failed to beat us when they had a chance.
Albion of course host Wolves later this season and hopefully we restore some pride by beating them once again, as we could be down by then.
Here is some of the reaction to Odemwingie’s social media message.
