Club do everything they can to sign £40,000-a-wk West Brom ace
Pogon Szczecin “want to do everything” they can to sign winger Kamil Grosicki from West Brom, according to Meczyki.
The Polish news outlet claims that Legia Warsaw had been in talks to sign the 32-year-old from the Baggies but discussions have died down and that has led to Ekstraklasa leaders Pogon to close in on a deal.
Grosicki was born in Szczecin and his family reportedly lives there. Pogon will also be opening a new stadium in the coming months and Grosicki’s arrival will “add splendour” to the inauguration.
Meczyki adds that Grosicki earns £40,000-a-week on his deal at The Hawthorns, which expires at the end of the season. He wants to play for Poland at the European Championships this summer but a lack of football at the Albion will harm his chances of doing that so a return to Poland – and to Szczecin – seems likely.
It is understood that “everything should clear up this week”.
Turbo homecoming in Sczezcin
It seems that signing Grosicki would be a momentous deal for Pogon.
Not only are they in pole position to win the Polish league title this season but they are also set to open a new stadium and signing one of their country’s most famous players would certainly add to the feel-good factor that is seemingly in place in Sczezcin.
Grosicki’s unlikely to get any more game-time at West Brom this season.
The former Hull and Rennes winger had a chance to impress under Sam Allardyce last month when he started against Blackpool, Wolves and West Ham.
Although we fans though Turbo played well, Big Sam clearly didn’t and since assisting Matheus Pereira’s goal at West Ham on January 19, the Poland international hasn’t featured in any of West Brom’s matchday squads in the Premier League.
We don’t want to see Grosicki’s career go down the drain because in his year at The Hawthorns, he’s certainly played a role as he helped us win promotion from the Championship last season.
He deserves one final hurrah with Poland by playing for them at the Euros and if he feels his only chance of doing that means leaving the Baggies then we’re happy for him to do that.
Pogon seem like a good team for him to join for so many reasons so hopefully, this happens for the 32-year-old ace.
In other West Brom news, Gary Neville was disappointed by this player’s display against Manchester United on Sunday.
