Rio Ferdinand slams Harry Maguire after incident in West Brom draw

Rio Ferdinand has slammed Manchester United defender Harry Maguire for the penalty incident against West Brom on Sunday.

The Baggies drew 1-1 at The Hawthorns, but it could have ended in defeat after Craig Pawson initially handed the away side a penalty after Maguire went down.

Jon Moss in the VAR hub eventually turned that decision around, but it enraged Sam Allardyce that it took so long to make the decision.

Speaking on FIVE on his own YouTube channel, Ferdinand claimed that Maguire will have been “embarrassed” by going to the floor.

“That’s not something that you associate with our defenders,” he said.

“I think, if Harry is being honest, he will have waken up in the morning and be embarrassed with what he has done.

“It’s not what you want to see from a defender. If he sees that back, he’ll think ‘what I am thinking’.”

Ferdinand is spot on.

Maguire obviously couldn’t see where he had gone wrong, claiming that decisions are consistently going against his side this season.

He clearly forgot the reverse fixture at Old Trafford, where everything went their way when West Brom could and probably should have left with three points.

Thankfully, technology finally came to our saviour, although it took far too long to decide.

Allardyce has already claimed that he will be seeking answers from the Premier League, and we expect them to be arriving through the door sooner rather than later.
