View: West Brom have found key to survival in Mbaye Diange this season

West Brom forward Mbaye Diagne has quickly become a fan favourite at The Hawthorns since arriving from Galatasaray last month.

The Senegalese forward scored his first goal in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, and it could have been much better.

Diagne missed that sitter at Sheffield United and had a couple of goals disallowed for offside in the defeat against Tottenham after.

This is exactly what the Baggies have been missing.

Sam Allardyce is known for his physical sides, and the Albion had no one in the final third who could bring that every single week.

Karlan Grant, Callum Robinson and Hal Robson-Kanu have shown they aren’t good enough to lead the line in the Premier League and are now either used as a substitute or out wide.

Diagne is irreplaceable right now.

Out of clubs outside of the top six, the 29-year-old won the most headed duels of any player – winning nine against the likes of Harry Maguire.

It was a great point on Sunday, but it would have been even better if we picked up all three points, just as we deserved.

Diagne only got two of his four shots on target according to WyScout, and should he improve that shooting accuracy, he could fire us to safety.

Big Sam has definitely found the key to survival in Diagne, and he is only going to better the more he features in the Premier League.
